The Shanghai Masters the most prestigious ATP event in the Asia-Pacific region and one of nine ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Series tournaments played annually. It takes place every year in October in Shanghai, China. It is the only tournament of this category played outside of North American or the European region and is the culmination and feature event of the Asian Swing. Currently (as of July 21), the ATP website says it will be held October 3-10, 2021, however, the Shanghai Masters site says October 9-17, 2021
Since its first year (2009), the Shanghai Rolex Masters has proved to be very popular among top ATP players, as they have voted it as the best ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament of the year for 5 consecutive years!

Matches take place in the magnificent Qizhong Tennis Center which covers the total area of 338,836 square meters and consists of 25 Deco Turf outside tennis courts. Main courts include Grand Stand Court 2, Court 3 and a beautiful Center Court with a steel retractable roof which look like a Shanghai’s city flower, magnolia, and can seat 15,000 people.

A city shuttle bus service is available during the tournament. The shuttle bus starts at the South Square of Xinzhuang Station of the Metro Line 1 and the terminal is between Gate 1 and Gate 2 of Qizhong Tennis Center. The bus stops at Zhuanqiao Station of Metro Line 5. It takes about 45 minutes to complete the route and the ticket costs 2RMB each way.
