The BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, held annually in March is the first of nine ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments, showcasing the best men’s and women’s players at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Southern California, just outside Palm Springs. The BNP Paribas Open is the largest two-week combined ATP & WTA professional tennis tournament outside of the four majors and The Stadium 1 is the second largest in the world, offering 16,100 spectator seats. For many years, the BNP Paribas Open has been named the ATP Tour Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 Tournament of the Year! The BNP Paribas Open has expanded its men’s event from one week to two, and now features a 96-player singles draw and 32-team doubles draw in this mandatory event on both the men’s and women’s sides. The 4 week combo of Indian Wells, followed by the Miami Open has been dubbed the "Sunshine Double.”
The Tennis Garden’s beautiful landscaped grounds, covering 54 acres, also include a brand new, permanent Stadium 2, with 8,000 seats and three fine dining restaurants, including the world-famous Japanese restaurant Nobu. Prior to the 2017 tournament, the Indian Wells Tennis Garden underwent extensive renovations designed to enhance the overall fan experience, including substantial upgrades to Stadium 1. Ranging from a massive expansion of the Stadium Plaza to renovating all the suites and hospitality spaces to adding 21 new restaurants and concessions, the full-scale changes will continue to delight fans attending the BNP Paribas Open for years to come.
Last year, BNP Paribas Open announced it will award $19M in total prize money. 2024 Players included: Rafael Nadal, Naomi Osaka, Caroline Wozniacki, Angelique Kerber.
